How did you create your username for VOX? What influenced your decision?
Submitted by Strive2Be.
I had been using a computer for well over a decade before I finally went online. The main reason it took so long was that internet simply was not available for a very long time in my area. Well, not exactly. You needed to be able to afford long distance calling, which I could not.
So, when, in the 90's, a small computer store opened up and started internet service, I was one of the first to get online. It took a bit of time of exploring and browsing before I started to sign up for things. The first was a yahoo account. I tried to use my real name but the darned thing would not let me. Back then, I didn't know spaces were not acceptable. So, I thought of using one of my nicknames but of course, many people have the same nicknames. I didn't want a bunch of numbers attached to my name. I knew I would be stuck with this name for a very long time and numbering smacked to me, of impersonalization.
I considered my options and started playing with different ideas. I love to brainstorm. It took awhile before I hit upon the idea of combining a nickname with something I loved to do. Once the thought occurred the image of a conch shell filled with ink, filled my thoughts. After a few minutes of playing with word combinations I hit upon the idea and Inkshell came into being. I had no idea, until later that the name could be read another way... ink's hell.
;)
Now I tend to use the name for websites and blogs, like vox. People who know me, recognize it quickly. It also makes it easier for people, when they are using search engines, to find me. Granted, I prefer my real name and use it whenever possible but I keep inkshell around as it is also part of my online world.
What's the oldest thing in your fridge?
The cheese and the mustard are vying for first place, they are neck and neck and coming into the turn. What's this? A bottle of cherry preserves is racing up and, wow, look at her go! She has passed cheese and mustard and is moving well ahead of them. Mustard and cheese are putting the steam on now, you can see they are pushing as hard as they can but they haven't got a shot. The Cherry preserves is seven lengths ahead and passes the finish line! What a race!
can we see that again in slow mo?

What's the best thing since sliced bread?
I would have to say, the serrated knife, created to cut as much fresh bread as you want and as thick or thin as you like.
Next would be Oatmeal bread, fresh out of the oven, we make it as least three times a week.
Third thing would have to be sheets and pans, make your bread in any shape, be it flat, or loafed, these things rock!
Outside of bread, the best thing would be... convection ovens, decreasing cook time, they are very energy efficient.
ok, I couldn't get away from the bread, I tried but, darn it, fresh bread is the best.
Have you ever been cheated on? Ever cheated?
Submitted by Joe.
Quick answer.... Nope and... Nope
Have you ever thought of cheating?
To which I answer.... yes, I have thought about it but usually it came down to me being pissed off with my husband. Once I cooled down, I shrugged my shoulders and got on with life.
Has your significant other ever thought of cheating?
*chuckles* I am very certain he has thought about it as well and for the same reasons... LOL
Would you rather go back in time or visit the future?
Submitted by Auds.
My imagination takes me to both places easily enough. I'll admit that I do so often but still, here is where I am and here is where both the future and past begin and end. Now is where I live, but I do believe that we, each of us have glimpses to both the past in future. Flashbacks and Deja vu (sp?) seem to happen at odd times, the recurrence of a time never experienced before can be... unsettling or amazing, depending on when and how accurate the moment is.
If I were to choose further in time though, a moment to see, it would most likely be the future. Just how much or little the human race changes. I wonder how my family would change, what my children and their children would be like long after I am gone. What sports would be favored over others, what people are watching and reading.
I would want to know what animals have gone extinct and which have been newly discovered. I would want to see how much we, the human race has grown and how much life on this world is still about. What lessons have we finally learned from and what still needs to be addressed.
